Waimate is situated just 45 minutes from the several lakes and has outstanding scenery and great fishing and hunting. Waimate hosts numerous walking and mountain bike tracks. Our claim to fame is the strawberry fare which is held every year in December that attracts crowds of around 14,000, and the Waimate 50 motor racing which is held at labor weekend each year.
